Welcome to Health at PES

Dear Parent or Guardian:
I am delighted to introduce you to the comprehensive health and wellness program in which your child will be participating this year. The Health Curriculum Guidelines (Standards) for the State of NH dictates what will be covered in my classes.  The method of delivery is the “fun stuff” that I get to create along with other members of our district.  This year Mr. Szep (the PE teacher) and I will be combining our classes once a week to make connections to overall wellness.
In grades K-4, children will learn about a variety of topics, body functions, feelings, safety, and critical thinking skills.  I will discuss, guide, and teach units from our current curriculum THE GREAT BODY SHOP along with other health related programs.  Students who are in grades K-4 are assessed in class and their performance will be indicated on the report card.
My goal for students is to help them realize that our health and wellness is not only about brushing our teeth or how our heart beats.  It is also about our mind, feelings and the choices we make.  Being a healthy individual is all about balance. The Health Curriculum Guidelines along with THE GREAT BODY SHOP curriculum will help get your child started on this life long journey.
When we all work together to reinforce the message of “Health and Wellness”, the program will go a long way toward helping your child make the kind of decisions about his/her body that will keep them healthy, drug free, and ready to meet the challenges of the future. I am eager to help support your child on that path!  I am looking forward to working with you and or speaking with you!  Should you have any questions and or concerns about the Health and Wellness program, or talents that you could share with the students,  please do not hesitate to contact me.  You may reach me by phone, 924-3828, or e-mail at trousseau@conval.edu. Please be on the look for occasional health newsletters and/or Parent’s Bulletins.
I wish you all a happy, productive, and “Healthy” school year!
   ~Happy, Healthy,
